White Park Bay

White Park Bay

From the small fishing village Portbraddon to Ballintoy harbour stretches the dune landscape of White Park Bay. The golden sandy beach is ideal for long walks. A bath in the cool water is to be enjoyed with great care because of the strong current.

Above the beach was one of the first settlements in Ireland. The first settlers specialized in the production and export of weapons. Axes and arrowheads were made of the abundant flint stones from the surrounding limestone. A dolmen and several graves are witnesses of a Neolithic settlement. Again and again, the dune reveals findings from times long past.
