St. Mary’s Abbey in Howth
The ruins of St. Marry’s Abbey can almost be described as an insider tip. It is surrounded by houses in the middle of the village of Howth and can hardly be seen from the road. And yet it is perfectly situated to overlook the harbour of Howth and the offshore island of Ireland’s Eye.
Already around 1042 a first church was built here. Today’s complex dates back to the late 14th century.
