The castle was built by Richard Talbot in 1185. The Talbots lived here until 1976, making Malahide Castle the longest inhabited castle in Ireland. The property is situated in the middle of a public park and can be visited as part of a guided tour. The entrance fee also includes a visit to the Botanical Garden and other garden areas.
