Kinbane Castle
Kinbane Castle, sometimes spelled Kenbane Castle, sits picturesquely on a white limestone headland in Rathlin Sound. Built around 1540 by the McDonell clan who ruled the region, the fortress was later given to the MacAllisters in gratitude for their loyal service.
A narrow path leads from the B15 to Kinbane Castle, which leads into a parking lot. From here you can continue on foot. The steps lead steeply down to the bay and from there up to the ruin. On the way you pass the crumbling cottage of a salmon fisherman, which stands in a dramatic position only a few meters from the cliff edge.
