Drogheda
Founded by the Vikings, the city on the Boyne River has some remarkable monuments to visit, such as St. Laurence Gate from the 13th century, which looks more like a fortress than a city gate.
The Millmount Fort is located on a hill under which an ancient tomb is suspected. The Martello Tower on the summit was built in 1808 and was part of the surrounding barracks.
