Dalkey Island

Dalkey Island

About 300 meters off the coastal town Dalkey lies the uninhabited Dalkey Island flanked by some rocks in Dublin Bay. On the island there is a Martello tower and the ruin of a small church, St. Begnet’s Oratory. The best view of the island is from Dillon’s Park (or “The People’s Park” as it is officially called) and Sorrento Park. If you want to get closer, you can take a boat from Dalkey.

While a lighthouse was installed on an adjacent rock to warn seafarers of this dangerous place, the rocks are popular resting places for seals.
