Coliemore Harbour

Coliemore Harbour

Today’s tranquil harbour was the most important trading spot for goods on the east coast of Ireland between 1200 and 1600. In the deep waters of Dalkey Sound, the largest sailing ships of that time docked. Passengers and cargo were rowed into the harbour on long boats. During this phase, seven tower houses were built in Dalkey, in which the incoming goods were stored until further transport.
