Saltmills Wreck

Shipwrecks near Saltmills

On the outskirts of Saltmills on the Hook Peninsula, at the banks of the Tintern, right next to the dam, lies the wooden skeleton of a nameless wreck. Another wreck and also a popular photo motif is located about 2 kilometres west on the shore of Bannow Bay. The “Portlairge” has run on sand here. Actually a ironic end for a dredger that was once used to shovel sand.
