Malin Head

Malin Head

Located in the far north of Inishowen Peninsula, Malin Head is the northernmost tip of the Irish mainland. The highest elevation in this wild part of the coast is Banba’s Crown, named after the mystic queen Banba. On the hill there are still the remains of a watch house from the times of Napoleon, and a wonderful view over the coast and the mountains of Inishowen Peninsula rewards everyone, who makes his way up the hill.
Starting from Banba’s Crown there is a hiking trail along deep ravines (โ€œHell’s Holeโ€) and mountain ledges (โ€œDevils Bridgeโ€) all the way to Malin Head. Although the names promise danger the hiking trail is rather known for its dramatic natural highlights than anything else.

Malin Head was also backdrop for the Star Wars saga.
