Greencastle

Greencastle

The mighty 13th century Norman castle could be described as the counterpart of Carlingford Castle. Both fortifications had the task of protecting the mouth of Carlingford Lough.

In the summer of 2017, the “Scenic Carlingford Ferry” brought this traditional link back to life.ย A ferry that connects Greenore on the other side of Carlingford Lough with Greencastle. The small ferry port is located in the immediate vicinity of the castle.
