Glanteenassig Forest Park

Glanteenassig Forest Park

The Dingle Peninsula is well known to many visitors and offers outstanding highlights such as Slea Head, the Gallarus Oratory, Dingle Town with the dolphin Funghi, Connor Pass and the beautiful beaches of Inch or Castlegregory. But on the peninsula there are also many hidden treasures to discover. One of them is the Glanteenassig Forest Park. The site of the National Park is located at the foot of the Slieve Mish Mountains and covers an area of 450 hectares. A visit to Glanteenassig in the early hours of the day is particularly attractive when the two lakes Loughs Slat and Lough Caum lying quite and peaceful surrounded by a dense forest and tranquil mountain scenery. An almost magical light falls through the trees on the mossy forest ground and in the silence around you, it’s not hard to imagine that elves and other mythical creatures could come across.
There is a fine walk around Lough Slat that leads on paved way along the lake and through the woods. The lake itself is a veritable paradise for anglers and shelters a large population of rainbow trout.
