Dunbeg Fort

Dunbeg Fort

The Iron Age fortification Dunbeg Fort is located directly on the edge of a cliff. Towards the land, several earth walls and a massive rampart served as protection against attackers. Inside the complex there is the foundation of a building. The strategically protective location on the edge of the cliffs has become increasingly disastrous in recent years, when parts of the site slipped into the sea. Dunbeg Fort is part of the Fahan Group – a series of ancient dwellings on the Dingle Peninsula.
