Cloughmore Stone

Cloughmore Stone

About 300 meters from the village Rostrevor lies on a hill this enormous boulder, whose weight is estimated at about 50 tons. According to science, the rock was left here by a glacier during the last ice age.ย The legend that the giant Fionn mac Cumhaill threw the boulder from the Cooley Mountains over Carlingford Lough sounds much more beautiful.ย Cloughmore Stone is located in the beautiful Kilbroney Forest Park & Rostrevor Forest hiking area.
