It seems a little strange how the old station “Newcastle Station House” stands in no man’s land at Six Mile Point. The railway station was still in operation until 1960. Nowadays there is a foot crossing of the railway line right next to the former station building and one should look to the left and right (and perhaps to the left again for safety’s sake), before one crosses the rails. At least as curious is that one stands directly on the beach after the crossing. The railway line runs only a few meters parallel to the shore.
