Caisleán Dhún Droma
County Down

In a strategically excellent location above the natural harbour of Dundrum, the Normans built a castle in 1180, which shows all the typical elements of the architecture of that time. High protective walls, a moat driven into the rock and a massive round tower are surprisingly well preserved to this day. The annals show that long before the Normans there was a Celtic fortification on the hill.
