A peculiar memorial welcomes visitors to Cushendun. This is the goat sculpture “Johann”, which was erected in memory of the last victim of foot and mouth disease (in 2001). The place itself reminds a little of Cornwall, which is intended. Cushendun was founded by Ronald McNeill, who dedicated the settlement to his Cornish wife.
The Cushendun Caves are located directly behind the houses at the river mouth and have gained dramatic popularity thanks to the fantasy series “Game of Thrones”.
