If you walk under one of the arches of the high railway bridge in Balbriggan, you find yourself in a seemingly different world. Ahead lies a busy harbour with a beautiful sandy beach bordering the northern quay wall. Looking over the beach to the north, you can see an old chimney and a Martello Tower on the horizon. But back to the harbour, where the boats are stuck in the sand at low tide. If you walk along the southern harbour wall, you have the feeling that every step you take takes you further into the past. At the end of the wall there is an old small lighthouse.
