The harbour of Arklow seems a little old-fashioned. At the big industrial halls the ravages of time left its mark and also one or the other fishing boat in the harbour is definitely no longer fit to sail. Nevertheless, there is always a certain amount of activity in the port. Arklow is still an important fishing port and the marina on the north quay of the Avoca River enjoys great popularity. At the entrance to the marina there is a harbour light, which once belonged to the lightship Albatross.
At the mouth of the Avoca, a sandy beach nestles directly against the southern harbour wall.
