April 5-12 is the International Dark Sky Week. Thi April 5-12 is the International Dark Sky Week. This week is about being aware of the increasing light pollution caused by artificial light and at the same time getting fascinated by the starry sky. So turn off the lights and discover the night ;-)
Light pollution not only interferes with our view of the universe, it also disturbs wildlife, affects human health, wastes energy, and contributes to climate change. My photograph shows Lough Hyne in West Cork on a starry night last August. Not only was the night sky fascinating, there was also the blue glow of plankton around anything that moved in the water - including swimmers and kayakers on a night tour. This natural phenomenon is called bioluminescence and is not uncommon at this marine lake.
––– #IDSW2021 #DarkSkyWeek #DiscoverTheNight #loves_ireland #lovesireland #icu_ireland #insta_ireland #ireland_gram #instaireland #discoverireland #visitireland #thisisireland #eire #irelan #ig_ireland #travelireland #loveireland #tourismireland #wanderireland #irishpassion #irelandtravel #inpireireland #westcork #cork #irish #irishpride #ig_ireland #visitireland #raw_ireland #bestirelandpics
Red Bay Castle Waterfoot, County Antrim The ruins Red Bay Castle
Waterfoot, County Antrim The ruins of Red Bay Castle are situated on a headland near Waterfoot in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Directly below the ruins, the panoramic Antrim Coast Road winds its way along the coast. For me, this is one of the most beautiful routes on the Emerald Isle. ––– #loves_ireland #lovesireland #icu_ireland #insta_ireland #ireland_gram #instaireland #discoverireland #visitireland #thisisireland #eire #irelan #ig_ireland #travelireland #loveireland #tourismireland #wanderireland #irishpassion #irelandtravel #inpireireland #northernireland #discoverni #countyantrim #antrim #antrimcoast #irish #irishpride #ig_ireland #visitireland #raw_ireland #bestirelandpics

Light very often determines how a scenery looks li Light very often determines how a scenery looks like. During my visit to the Gleninagh Valley in the heart of Connemara, light was rather scarce. It was a dull day as you experience it quite often in Ireland. Nevertheless, the view across the valley to Bencorrbeg caught my eye. When I look at the picture now, first of all it reminds me of the silence that covered the barren landscape. From the photographer's point of view, it is always amazing how some moods can be expressed even with sparse light. ––– #connemara #valley #sheep #mountains #silence #calm #landscape #landscapephotography #landschaftsfotografie #travel #travelphotography #photography #discoverireland #visitireland #loveireland #tourismireland #visitireland #discoverireland #irelandtravel #loves_ireland #irishcentral #thisisireland #raw_ireland #thefullirish_ #bestirelandpics #littlepiecesofireland #ig_ireland #ig_ireland_ #insta_ireland #icu_ireland #daily_ireland
